New airlines in Saudi Arabia
A new airlines backed by Saudi public investment fund will be launched soon. It has been named RIA. Now the regional carriers will have another competitor in foray. This airline will be second Saudi national airline, the first one being Saudia which has been in operation since many decades.
RIA aims to become the top airlines in the region on the footprints of Emirates but in lesser time. The CEO of RIA is yet to be appointed. The aim is to operate in 150 routes globally, which means the investment will be $30 billion approx.
Last week there was an exciting announcement by Hungarian budget airlines named Wizzair. They will operate from 20 European cities to 3 major cities in Saudi Arabia. The starting fare is from US $59 without baggage. The fare is higher for passengers with baggage. Now Europe is also an affordable destination to fly from Saudi Arabia.
